SDRF(State Disaster Response Force)
The Department has notified State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) vide Order no. 1/RDM/SDRF/2014 dated 11th June, 2015 by drawing personnel from various units of the Manipur Police Department under section 44(1) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 as a specialist response force for handling disaster situations in the State. The SDRF personnel have been imparted training on Disaster Management, particularly in Search & Rescue, First Aid at National Civil Defence College, Nagpur, NDRF Academy, Nagpur and North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA), Shillong. Further, they are regularly trained by conducting 15 days house training programmes. In addition, the Manipur Fire service have been designated as the first responder to any disaster in the state.
Currently, Manipur State Disaster Response Force is manned by 164 personnel and stationed at Kabo Leikai near 2nd M.R. Battalion, North A.O.C., Imphal East, Manipur.
