Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) Sachet
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has envisaged a Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) compliant Integrated Alert System for Disaster Management to warn the Indian public of emergencies and disasters and to address the measures for the prevention of disaster, or the mitigation, or preparedness and capacity building for dealing with threatening disaster situations or disasters.
The primary objective of CAP Sachet - Integrated Alert System is to modernize and integrate existing alert and warning systems at the national, state. Territorial, local levels in a single, cohesive platform, using which any forecasting agency can address public or the First Responders of a specific area simultaneously over all media coverage (SMS, TV, Radio, Siren, Internet, Mobile Application, Railway station announcement system, social media etc.) in popular Indian languages.
With required cooperation and synergy to Design and Develop a platform for Implementation of CAP System at Pan India level by integrating various Alert Generating, Authorizing and Dissemination agencies, C-DOT has been entrusted as Technology partner under supervision of Department of Telecommunication (DoT).
